Parish Neighbors is a free, public directory of Catholic churches and parishes. You don't need an account to use it, and we don't ask you for personal details. This page explains the limited data we do handle, the cookies and third-party services involved, and the choices you have. By continuing to use Parish Neighbors, you accept the use of cookies and advertising described here.
What we collect
- Approximate location. We derive an approximate city/region from your IP address to show parishes near you. If you grant location permission, your device shares a precise location so the map can center on you — that precise location stays in your browser and is not stored on our servers.
- Usage.Pages viewed and basic interaction events, so we can understand what's useful and improve the directory.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't ask you to create an account or submit personal data to browse.
Cookies & third-party services
We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for these purposes:
- Analytics. Understand how the site is used so we can improve the directory.
- Measurement. Aggregate, non-identifying traffic measurement.
- Advertising.Third-party advertising partners show ads that help keep Parish Neighbors free. They may set their own cookies to serve and measure those ads. The ads come from these partners, not from us, and we don't control the specific cookies they set.
Your choices
- Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most of the site works without them.
- Location. Location sharing is optional — deny or revoke it in your browser at any time; we fall back to approximate IP location.
- Analytics. You can opt out with browser controls or privacy-focused extensions.
- California residents.You have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including regarding the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context advertising. To exercise them, contact us at privacy@parishneighbors.app.
Children
Parish Neighbors is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this notice as the site evolves. We'll revise the effective date above when we do.
